Out of the Box

The grand kid has a great fondness for "Mystery Boxes"  They are tiny little boxes or capsules which contain a small toy or figurine from favorite TV shows, movies, games, cartoons, toy lines, etc.  When you have one of these little boxes -  you never know exactly what you are going to get.  You have certain hopes and expectations. But to really know what it is, you have to open the box and let it out.  It could potentially be even better than you ever imagined.



Thinking about these mystery boxes one day got me to thinking... sometimes we kind of treat God like a mystery box.

We expect God to meet certain expectations.  We think of him in human terms. With human limitations.  But, if we keep God in a nice tidy little box - we'll never know how great, how loving, how truly amazing He is!



Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. - Ephesians 3:20

Whatever you ask of Him - he can do far more.  Your thoughts about God don't even begin to touch who and what He really is!  

No matter how big you think God is - He is bigger! 

As great as you think God is - He is greater! 

Whatever you think He can do or accomplish - He is able to do more! 

How much you believe He loves you - He loves you more!  

He is all powerful.  All knowing.  All loving.  He is beyond time, space, borders, expectations, limitations.  

It's time to stop expecting too little of God.  Think outside the box!!

So Much More




God doesn't mean for me to just exist.  Not merely to survive.

He promises that he can give me more than I can ever dream or imagine.  (Ephesians 3:20)

I want to thrive.  I want to soak up every good thing God has for me.  

I want to drink His Living Water until I am full to bursting and then to pour it back out for others. 

I want to not just hope for good things, but to expect them.  To live knowing for a fact that they are right around the corner and heading this way.  

To live each moment as if it is the best it can possible be and as if the next will be even better.  

To stop expecting disappointment or struggles, but to grab onto God's promise that all things will be worked for good and claim it as my own. (Romans 8:28)

Man Sized Expectations

"For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength" ~ 1 Corinthians 1:25

The Bible tells us that all things are possible for God. But it can be so difficult to really wrap my head around that one.  To really believe that nothing is too big or impossible for Him to manage. Do I put man-sized restrictions on God?  Do I expect less of Him than He is really capable?

The simple answer is: Yes.Yes, I do.

But the truth is - God is bigger.  Bigger than our doubts.  Bigger than our fears.  Bigger than our weaknesses.  God is never going to let us down, disappoint us, or forsake us.  He is bigger than anything we can imagine.  His power goes beyond anything we can comprehend.

So, what ever it is you're expecting of God - think BIGGER!  Nothing is impossible for Him.
