Saturday Coffee: Makes You Wonder

Grab a cup of coffee (or tea - or whatever your beverage of choice is right now)  and let's talk!

Today, I just want to talk about a few things that made me go "hmmmm" during the past week.

Why does the cat insist that he must jump up on the bed whenever I am trying to make it?  For that matter, why does he always want to come into the bathroom when I go in there? It's sort of definitely weird.

Does anyone still give the courtesy "thank you wave" while in traffic?  I let people out/over/etc all the time.  And it seems as if it's the rare instance that anyone will give a little wave.  I know it shouldn't matter.  I should do it to be kind, not for the thank you.  But the truth it, it kinda bothers me.

The weather continues to keep us guessing around here.  On Wednesday we had snow and cold.  Thursday, the sun was shining and we were enjoying 65 degrees!

I went in Tuesday morning to have blood drawn for my yearly labs.  I was prepared to wait about a week for the results.  However, I was shocked to receive an email by 5pm the SAME DAY letting me know my results were available on the patient portal!  I've never received test results so quickly.  I was shocked.  Part of me even worried that maybe those results belong to someone else.  LOL

You Are Loved

The following is a repost of something I wrote several years ago.  It still holds just as true as it was then and will ever be...

If there is one simple truth, one message I could give to you, one thing I want you to step away from this blog knowing - it is this...

God Loves You:

no matter what you weigh

no matter what you wear

whether your hair is:  long or short - curly or straight - brunette, blond, red, gray, or white

even if you have no hair

whatever your job is

even when you are grumpy

with makeup or without

whether you cooked dinner, or ordered takeout

whether your house is clean or messy

whether the laundry is clean or not

if you made it to the gym today or skipped it

with pimples - or wrinkles

if you have a house full of children - or no children

Despite of what you've done

Because of who you are

Always

No matter what

Saturday Coffee: Unless I Forget

Grab a cup of coffee (or tea - or whatever your beverage of choice is right now)  and let's talk!

You may have noticed that I didn't get a Spirit of Gratitude post published this week.  Why?  Oh... no reason. Other than it completely slipped my mind.  That's right. I forgot.  Embarrassing.

Mother Nature can't seem to make up her mind what season it should be.  It seems she got the memo that it was still winter.  And decided to go with that.  For now, at least.  We had snow flurries on Wednesday.   With more possibly headed our way as next week   I'm not complaining.  I don't mind the chill.  And I'm thankful we're not getting pounded with one winter storm after another like the northern part of the country!

I saw this on Instagram the other day.  It sums up the weather situation pretty well... and made me giggle.

I had my yearly physical this week.  Everything looks pretty good.  I need to lose weight.  And exercise more.  No surprises there.  I have to go back one morning next week to have blood drawn for my labs.

Mr Cardinal was sitting out on the porch rail this morning, loudly complaining that the feeder is empty.  Something else I forgot to do this week.  I need to get that filled up before the snow possibly starts flying later this weekend.  Although I do enjoy listening to my bird friend singing his "feed us now!" song.

I'm ready for the weekend.  A little time with the Man of the House.  We've started taking some time on the weekend to do sort of a couples Bible study time.  And I'm going to make muffins for breakfast one morning.

I hope each of you enjoy a lovely weekend!

Currently... March 2018

True to the old expression, March certainly has come in like a lion!  After a record warm February, the arrival of March saw the temperatures drop 20 degrees or more and a couple of days of rain, followed by 2 days of extremely high winds.  Will she go out like a lamb?  We'll have to wait and see!

Reading: My fiction read is currently an advance read copy of Love and Ruin by Paula McLain thanks to NetGalley.  I'm also finishing up I am Loved by Wendy Blight for my personal Bible study times.

Enjoying:  My afternoon cup of tea each day.  Usually a nice Oolong or occasionally some Constant Comment.  It's been a lovely habit to try to start. One I plan to continue.  "Afternoon tea"...  Makes me feel quite British.  (not really)

Working On:
A little Spring cleaning.  Nothing like a huge top-to-bottom undertaking, just some of those chores that often get overlooked.  Things like giving the baseboards a good washing, cleaning some windows, cleaning out the chest freezer, etc.

Anticipating:  The weather finally being warm and dry enough to get back into our weekend hikes. Hopefully this happens sooner rather than later!

Also, my yearly physical this week.  I always anticipate this with a slight sense of dread.  Especially this year, since I have let my healthy habits slide and put on a few more pounds.  I find myself looking for reasons to reschedule the appointment so that I can put it off a little longer.

Feeling:  Hmmm...  Tired.  Lazy.  Fat.  I think winter has finally gotten too long for me and it's time for spring to arrive and encourage me out of hibernation so I can wake up and get motivated.

How are things currently in your life?

Saturday Coffee:

Grab a cup of coffee (or tea - or whatever your beverage of choice is right now)  and let's talk!

I don't know about y'all, but this has felt like such a looooong week!  I'm not even sure why.  It just seems like it was a long time between Monday and Friday.

After a couple of rainy days, Friday was  ridiculously windy.  When I went out to run errands, I saw several trees and big limbs down.  None of the traffic lights down the road were working.  And one of the roads I usually take was closed off, I can only assume because there was a tree or power pole down or something.  We had a power flicker in the morning, but as of 5pm our power and internet were still up and running.

I also tore my thumbnail yesterday morning.  I felt it snag and pull.  But when I looked at it and saw how far down it had ripped, I was not looking forward to having to remove the broken part.  OUCH!

I realized the other day that my roots have grown out beyond what it acceptable.  And there is a LOT of gray in there!  So now, I'm trying to decide if I should just go ahead with the same ol' auburn I usually do, or if I just want to do some highlights this time to blend with the gray to start letting it grow out.  Decisions, decisions...

How was your week?

A Spirit of Gratitude: March 1

I know plenty of us are grateful that March has arrived and that Spring is on the way!  Even if it's a little difficult to believe as I write this on the cold and rainy last day of February with a blanket and a cup of tea.  I think I got spoiled by all the warm, spring-like days during the past month.

I Am Thankful For:
Ridiculously warm February days
Slowly making progress
Having someone to talk to at the end of the day
Spring rolls
Flowering trees
A new Yum Box
A nice dinner out with the Man of the House
French toast
Squishy yarn
Planning a couple Bible Study time to with the Man of the House
A fun new order for my Etsy shop
Thinking ahead to the Summer vacation
A cuteness overload
Pineapple
When all you can do is shake your head and move on
Early, early mornings

What are you thankful for this week?
