A Space for Me

When I go visit my sister - she always makes sure she has coffee and creamer in the house for me.  Even though she's a tea drinker.  She does this because she cares about me.  And she wants me to feel at home in her house.

That's what we do, right?  When you are having special guests, you try to make things extra nice for them.  You do things to try to make them feel at home.

For example, maybe you make sure you have your guests' favorite food.  Or you put some nice soaps or extra toiletries in the bathroom for them. Or have their favorite magazine for them to read if they can't sleep at night.

In the Bible, Jesus tells His disciples that He is going to prepare a place for them in His Father's house.

As I was reading this verse the other day, I thought how I love this imagery.  Jesus loving preparing a space for each of us.  A room for us in the Father's home.  Each one crafted with one special person in mind.  Because He loves us and wants each of us to feel completely at home.

I began wondering what the room He prepared especially for me might look like.

I think my room would be like a vast library, filled with all the books I didn't have time to read during my time on earth.  Along with my favorites that I enjoy reading over and over again.

There would be the most comfortable chair you can imagine, with a bottomless cup of coffee beside it - just within reach.

And a balcony overlooking the water.  Preferably a beach where I can hear the waves breaking on the sand and watch the sunrise (and/or set) over the water.  With a bird feeder where every type of bird will come to visit.

It will always be the perfect temperature.  The mornings are warm and foggy.  And the afternoons are a perfect mixture of sun, rain and snow.

Obviously, I have no idea what my place in the Father's house will really be like.  Only that it will be more than I could possible begin to picture.

But it is fun to imagine.

What would your room in Heaven be like?

Are You Ready for Valentine's Day?

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day.  The day dedicated to all things love, romance, hearts and flowers.

Maybe you are prepared.  You have a dinner planned, or reservations made.  Cards are signed.  Gifts are wrapped.  Flowers and chocolate are purchased.

Or, maybe you're still needing a little inspiration for the big day.  If so, I'm sharing some of my favorite past love-themed posts, which will hopefully help you out.

Currently... February 2019

The shortest month of the year is here, and for all you cold-weather-phobes that means that Spring is right around the corner.  For those of us who like the winter - let's enjoy every one of these February days.  Maybe take advantage of the chill to snuggle up with someone special and celebrate Valentine's Day?

Reading:
I am still working my way through Anna Karenina.  I can't remember the last time it took me this long to read through a book.

Celebrating:  This house is a football house.  Despite the fact that neither one of our favorite teams are playing this year, and that we have to endure the Patriots in yet another championship game - we can be found eating some of the Man of the House's delicious chili and cheering on the Rams in the Super Bowl this Sunday.

Of course, the big day this month is Valentine's Day.  The Man of the House and I have developed a tradition of having our Valentine date on the weekend before or after February 14th.  That way we get our cozy couple time,  but we avoid the crowds that occur at the restaurants on the actual day.

Enjoying:  My new living room furniture.  We've had it for a month now, and I love it so much!  It works so well in the room and makes the space feel so warm and comfy-cozy.

Anticipating:  Next football season.  The Man of the House and I have been hatching a plan to visit every NFL stadium in the country.  Not all in one season!  But a few each year until we have been to every one of them.

Working On:  Doing some purging and organizing.  A little here.  A little there.

Making:  Washcloths and bath puffs for the Etsy shop.  One of my goals for this year is to build up an inventory of the more popular items to help reduce wait times - especially for some of my wholesale customers.

Wanting: Just to feel better.  I have been dealing with a nasty head cold all week and I am more than ready for it to be done and over!  Or at the very least, I need a good night of sleep to help me heal.  Which doesn't seem to be happening.

Needing:  A better plan for getting my eating back to a healthier habit and working some exercise and healthy movement into my routine.

Feeling:  (see Wanting above)

Favorite Things:
1)  SweeTart hearts
2)  Watching Netflix
3)  Gel pens
