Finally... Happy Nails

I enjoy having pretty, painted nails just as much as the next gal.  Unfortunately, once manicured, mine seem to chip as soon as they're dry.  Whether it's from washing dishes, playing with the grand kid or working with my crochet hook - I can count on my nail polish chipping within a day... maybe two if I'm lucky.

I've tried many of the top brands, and until now Essie has been my go-to choice for the best results.

Until last week on a whim I picked up this...  Wet n Wild Megalast Nail Color,  Base Coat, and Top Coat.

First of all - you can't beat the price!  I paid less than $3 each for the base and topcoats, and less than $2 for the color!  This one is Sugar Coat.  It's a pretty pinkish- white shade.  My first coat on was a little streaky, but I took my time on the second coat to get it even and it looked much better after that.

My opinion only improved from there.  I was pleased to see the nail polish last.  Not just one day, or even two.

Day Two

I was thrilled to still be chip-free on day three!

Day Three

But when it still looked beautiful on day four, I was amazed!  This was pretty much a record for me.  It's not as if I were being super careful or anything.  It was the usual cleaning, crocheting, etc.

Day Four

On day five, the first chips started to show. And while I could probably manage to get by another day or two if I wanted to thanks to the light, nude color of the polish; I will probably re-do my manicure on day 6.  I have a slightly darker shade picked out for the next round.

Day Five
This set is a win for me!  And I have already recommended it to a couple of people.

Currently... post-Mother's Day

I hope each and everyone one of you had a pleasant Mother's Day - whether you are a mother, are married to a mother, or have a mother. Mine was wonderful (more on that later this week)!

What's everyone up to this week?  I am looking down the barrel at a pretty full to do list, myself.

CURRENTLY...

Reading:  Still trying to get through The Paying Guests.  And still not enjoying it much.  As much as I hate giving up on a book, and usually make myself finish no matter what - I have been tempted many times to toss in the towel on this one.  At least the pace is picking up a bit.

Eating:  So many delicious and oh-so-not-good-for-me things over the past weekend! A milkshake. Cake at the reception following the male offspring's guitar recital. French toast.  Cheesecake.  I honestly gained 4 pounds this weekend.  Much healthy eating catchup work to be done this week!

Working on:  Some cotton bath puffs for my sister and her daughter.

Enjoying:  pretty toenails thanks to the beautiful new polish the female offspring gave me for Mother's Day

Anticipating:  A fun little crochet project - something just for me!

Thinking:  About everything that I should be doing while I sit here taking far too long to write this post.  And how maybe it will rain this evening and the Man of the House will get to come home early if his double header gets cancelled. And that I still need to buy stamps so we can start getting graduation announcements mailed out.

Feeling:  A little nauseous today.  Maybe from all the sweets I ate all weekend?

Ready For Spring Flowers

My poor little toes have been begging for a fresh polish look for ... well, longer than I care to admit! My daughter created this cute bee design and painted it on my toe nails!

Now.. it just needs to warm up enough for this Queen B to wear some flip flops and show these off!

It's Ok

Today I am linking up with Neely at "A Complete Waste of Makeup" for It's OK Thursday.

It's OK that my sink is full of dirty dishes this morning.

It's OK that I am full of plans and ideas - and low on energy

It's OK that I'm sitting in my pajamas and bathrobe in front of the computer at 10am

It's OK that there is an undressed Christmas tree still sitting in my living room

It's OK that I can't think of a single thing to blog about today... and that even all those previously started drafts sitting there are not inspiring me.

It's OK to realize I missed some nail polish around the edges... 2 days after I removed it!

It's OK that watching TV commercials makes me want sushi and donuts.
