Wednesday night we said "goodbye" to our beloved dog of 9 years - Oscar.
He was a good boy |
We knew it was coming. About a month ago he was diagnosed with stage 4 canine lymphoma. It was a terrible blow. We did a lot of research and considered all of our options. After learning that without treatment he had about 4 to 6 weeks and with treatment he might have a year (if he responded well), we decided that rather than the putting him through the stress of repeated trips to the vet and treatments, and the emotional strain to our family of constantly feeling as if we were just waiting to the cancer to come back, we decided to make the very most of our last few weeks with him.
He went for walks at the park and to the dog park. He ate turkey, chicken breast, and beef. He was spoiled rotten. The end was difficult, but he was able to pass at home, on his own bed, surrounded by his family.
I feel so much sadder and miss him much more than I had expected. Yesterday, I cried in the pet department at Walmart.
And that's all I really have to say about that.
I'm so sorry, sweet Friend. Fur babies become part of our family. Sending hugs and love from Tennessee! <3
