Sunday Inspiration: Happy Easter!
"He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed." - 1 Peter 2:24 (NLT)

My Favorite Finds Friday: Ain't Nobody Got Time for That
This week as I browsed the Pinterest for Easter ideas, I found myself thinking that there are a lot of people out there with too much time on their hands. Or, with much more flex time than I have available. And though, I suppose the argument could be made that if I spent less time on Pinterest seeing what others are doing, I could then use that time to create some nifty, but time consuming, niftyness of my own. (I am choosing not to dwell on that concept)
Anywho... in the spirit of all my "That's really neat! But who has that kind of time?" discoveries, I present to you this week's Friday Finds:
This bunny face fruit platter from www.worthpinning.com would be an adorable addition to the Easter brunch table! And the grand baby would eat it up - literally and figuratively. But, if I'm honest with myself - I know I would run out of prep time and it's just gonna end up as a bowl of fruit salad.
There's also these too-cute-for-words deviled egg (or angeled egg, if you prefer) chicks from cincyshopper.com! I think I may have actually said "aawwww!" Out loud when I saw them. And while the thought of serving these little peepers up at Easter dinner did make me pause for a moment or two, I don't have that kind of patience. In fact, I usually delegate the egg making to someone else because... I have zero patience for all that peeling.
And then there are the bazillion items shaped as Easter related items which began life as humble rolls and buns... now, bunnies, chicks, carrots filled with egg salad! One can have an entire Spring scene of baked goods on the buffet table.
Now, PLEASE understand - I am not knocking anyone who creates any (or all) these adorable items for their Easter meal. So, please refrain from leaving angry comments or sending me hate mail. I truly do think they are beautiful! And if I had a little more time or patience, I would probably try to produce a few of them for my own family. If you decorate your holiday table with any of these items - More Power to You! I would love to see pictures of your own creations.
Or even better, maybe you could send some over to my house? (hint, hint... wink, wink)
Next week: Unique ideas I have found for decorating eggs!

Finished
We can imagine the pain of the physical torture. We can imagine the pain of being mocked, scorned, and rejected.
What we can never truly fathom is the crushing weight of all the sin that ever was, is,or would be in the world. Placed on one set of shoulders hanging on a cross.
And the sweet release as that weight was lifted, knowing that the sacrifice was complete. Sin washed away with the flow of blood. Once and for all.

The Cross Is Personal
The cross is personal for me.
I realize that I am responsible for the death of Christ on that cross.
Just as much as anyone else at any time in history or the future.
It was me.
He took my punishment. My beatings. My cross. He took my place.
I can not remove or distance myself from that.
Had He not taken that upon Himself for all of us me; it would be mine to bear.
The pain, the punishment, the scorn, the death.
Jesus in my place.
And that makes the cross personal. It's mine. That cross was meant for me

Passed Over
"Then
Moses summoned all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Go at once
and select the animals for your families and slaughter the Passover lamb. Take a bunch of hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood on the top and on both sides of the doorframe. None of you shall go out of the door of your house until morning. When the Lord goes through the land to strike down the Egyptians, he will see the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over that doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down." ~ Exodus 12:21 - 23
Just as the Israelites covered their doorway so God would know them as His own and would not allow death to enter, but rather granted them life... I have been covered by the blood of the ultimate sacrificial lamb, Jesus.
Because of this He will recognize me as His own. He will not give me over to death. I will be passed over. And He will give me eternal life in His kingdom!
Just knowing this makes me want to sing His praises!!

Springing Ahead
Spring is in the air my friends! We have made it through the dark, cold winter. The big warm up is in front of us.
Despite the fact that they are forecasting a chance of a wintry mix early next week; I am choosing to look forward to the warmer days ahead and planning my Spring To-Do list!

He Knows
"After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry." ~ Matthew 4:2
Jesus knows. He has been there.
When the gnawing feeling of hunger eats at the inside of your belly, or makes your soul ache and you want to give up because fasting is just "too hard".
Jesus knows.
"He was hungry."
40 days and 40 nights of fasting. In the desert. Yeh, He knows. He KNOWS.
The same thing that sustained our Savior through temptation after 40 days and nights of fasting can get you through also - the Word of God. (Matthew 4:4, Deuteronomy 8:3)

Empty
It was Ash Wednesday. The beginning of the Lenten season.
And so I fast for the day.
Not so I can consider myself righteous. Or appear pious. Or to be deserving.
It's not about me at all.
It's a denying of self. An emptying of self.
To make room for Him and His holy Spirit to come in. To fill every part of me.
My body, heart, and mind. My life.
Letting go of fear. Trusting God to sustain me and provide for me.
And always faithful - He shows up and makes His presence known.
