The Simple Way to Wash Your Walls

I admit that I can not claim to be much of a role model when it comes to housekeeping.  One of the chores I only tackle when I feel I just absolutely have to it is cleaning the walls.  Because... ugh!  In a busy house with light gray walls - this isn't a good thing.  They start looking pretty dingy before I get around to washing them.  Unfortunately for me - it was time. 

Scrubbing down walls didn't really fit into the image I had of my "Simplified" year.  I mean, it's not exactly a quick and easy job.  It was time to hit up my favorite source for tips and tricks (Pinterest) to see if I can find an simpler way to get it done.  Pinterest didn't let me down!  I saw a few ideas I liked, set my mind to the task ahead and It. Was. On!

The first thing I did was to take the broom and sweep down any cobwebs and dust. 

Next, I fit my Swiffer mop with an old dishcloth that I use for cleaning.  I sprayed a section of wall with my favorite all purpose cleaner.

Then I "mopped" the wall using the Swiffer mop using firm pressure.   I worked in small sections, working from top to bottom. 

After I finished a wall, I took the cleaning cloth and wiped down the bsseboards and light switch. 

And... VOILA!!  Clean walls.  Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!

Friday Pinterest Wannabe Fashionista: Week 3

Once again, I try to copy an outfit I have pinned using items from my own closet.  In the spirit of full disclosure - the jacket is actually from the female offspring's closet, as all my blazers are black, beige, or denim.

Friday Wannabe Fashionista

I've never been accused of being a fashionista.  Especially since I've put on some weight in the last few years, I just don't feel at ease in a lot of clothes and go for comfort and what I think might hide the bulges.

But I'm still a fashionista wanna-be at heart.  I happily go about adding cute looks I like to my Pinterest boards.  But I never actually do anything with all those ideas. Well, I think it's about time I started trying out some of those looks and outfits that I've admired.  Today,  I'm picking one of the looks and shopping my closet!

It's OK...

It's OK that no matter how much I clean, my kitchen still looks like a disaster area

It's OK to think some people have far too much time on their hands (and to be a tiny bit jealous)

It's OK that this is the only blog post I wrote today

Feeling Crafty

Maybe it's the beginning of the new year.  Or a result of all the work we've done in the living room. Whatever the cause is - my creative spark is flaring up.

I spent far too much time on Pinterest today, scoping out ideas and longing to plan a trip to Michael's, Walmart, and the dollar store!

My mind is swimming with plans for new table runners, organization ideas for my crafting space and other clutter attracting spots around the house, and gifts!

I am sure I could have spent much, much more time browsing through pins, but I finally had to force myself to just close the window before my entire afternoon was sucked into a Pinterest void.!
