What I Wore: Week Two

Let's give it another go this week.  Not sure how long I can keep this up.  It could get repetitive quickly, as I tend to repeat outfits quite often. I might have to consider just highlighting one outfit per week.

Saturday:  Saturdays mean grocery shopping for myself and the Man of the House.  I selected a pair of skinnies with the cuffs flipped for a cropped look, a white tshirt and a lightweight teal and white drapey cardigan with a hoodie.

Sunday:  I'm going to be completely honest with you.  I knew I was going to spend all afternoon working on a shop order and binging on Netflix, so I didn't even try.  I spent the day in a pair of Carolina Panthers lounge pants and a black tshirt.  Because some days are just like that.

Monday:  The day called for a casual outfit: gray jersey tunic with an open back, a bright blue tank, and jeans

Tuesday:  The temperatures really started warming up, so I selected A red peasant top to wear with some denim pedal pushers.  Nice and breezy.

Wednesday:  Another day with the super casual theme, finding me in a lightweight knit tshirt with a white flowy cardigan and my favorite Banana Republic jeans (another $4 thrift store find!)

Thursday:  A cool morning warmed up into a warm day.  Time for layers.  I wore brown flared pants, a loose coral sleeveless top.  A brown silk-blend cardigan kept me warm in the morning, and was easily removed when the day got heated.

Friday:  The day of the week when you want to be comfortable and have a little fun!  A brown flowy skirt (one of my favorites - I've had it forever!), a cream top with gathers at the neckline, and my trusty denim shirt.

The beautiful necklace pictured with Friday's outfit was made for me by my daughter.

What I Wore This Week

Now, let's just be honest here...  I am no fashion blogger.  Not even close.  But every now and then I get the urge to try something new and a little outside my comfort zone.  So, I hope y'all will bear with me as I give this thing a go.

Sunday:  This was the day of our hike.  I wore a pair of khakis, my "God save the queen" tshirt from Savannah Bee Company, and a denim shirt.  The weather was a big factor in my choices.  Temperatures can change in the blink of an eye during this time of year in the mountains.  The pants are lightweight and comfortable, with the added feature of tabs to be able to roll them to a cropped length if things get warm.  While the denim shirt could be removed and tied around my waist or tucked away in the backpack.

Monday:  It was expected to be another warm Spring day.  One I planned to use doing household chores and working on Etsy shop orders.  I selected a striped short-sleeved tunic with a cute zipper accent on the back from Target, paired with a black cami underneath and skinny jeans.

Tuesday: The outfit for the day was simple.  A white t shirt with a small ruffle accent at the neckline and a dark purple drapey cardigan with another pair of jeans.

Wednesday:  Lots of work to do!  So, comfort was key.  I selected a monochromatic gray tones tshirt with a fun owl print, a black 3/4 sleeve drapey cardigan (a twin to the one from Tuesday), and my
$4-thrift-store-find Nine West jeans.

Thursday:  I forgot to take picture of the outfit this day!  Oops!  It was a blue print peasant top and a pair of gray pants.

Friday:  I needed to run errands and pick up some supplies for the shop.  I wanted to be cute, but also extra comfortable.  I wore my favorite gray maxi skirt, a white v-neck tshirt and my denim shirt (the same one from Sunday's outfit of the day)

The Mystery of the Yoga Pants

I like to think that on those rare occasions I wear my workout pants in public, it just gives me an air of mystery.  Making people wonder...

You know, in that "Is she really on her way to/from the gym, or was she just too lazy to put on real clothes today?" sort of way.

I'll be honest with you.  The answer is probably the second guess.  But I am going to make every effort to put out a vibe that it's actually the first.  Especially if you see me at the grocery store or Target. (And if I haven't seen you in a while - that is going to be the day we run into each other: my "I'm in my yoga pants with minimal makeup on at Target" day. It's just a sure thing) And I hope you'll make every effort to pretend you actually believe I must be on my way to or from working out and just had to pop into the store to pick up some urgently needed item.

But whatever you do, please don't ask me about it.  (Oh, are you on your way to the gym?) Because that is going to force me to either
A) lie straight to your face
      -or-
B) confess my lackadaisical approach to dressing that day.  Out loud.  In public.

Either way - it's just not cool.  Just. Not. Cool. So don't ask.

I prefer to keep an air of mystery about the whole thing.  Super healthy, multitasker? Or comfortable in my laziness? Only me and my workout pants know for sure.

Friday Pinterest Wannabe Fashionista: Week 4 (Lighten Up!)

This was the week I challenged myself to lighten up and not wear black for a week.  Surprisingly, it was not as difficult as I thought! I will admit there were a couple of days it would have been very simple just to toss on a a black t-shirt or capris and not have to think so much about what to wear.  But in the end - I made it!

How did you do?  Be sure to share in the comments!

Here's my week:

Sunday: Striped top, beige tank, cropped jeans

Monday: Red patterned top, navy cami, denim shorts

Tuesday: Multi-color striped tank, green cardigan, white shorts

Wednesday: Purple maxi dress, green tank
Thursday:  White top, white tank, khaki shorts

Friday: Striped drape-neck top, cropped jeans

Friday Pinterest Wannabe Fashionista: Week 3

Once again, I try to copy an outfit I have pinned using items from my own closet.  In the spirit of full disclosure - the jacket is actually from the female offspring's closet, as all my blazers are black, beige, or denim.

THE ORIGINAL:
white cropped pants with colorful blazer

MY VERSION:

And now for something completely different...

I'm trying something a little different for Friday Wannabe Fashionista next week, and I hope you'll join me! I

Your mission, should you chose to accept it, is:
Lighten up - and go an entire week without wearing black.

Yes... I know what you're thinking! IMPOSSIBLE!  I thought it too. When I first glanced in my closet I thought there was absolutely no way it could happen.  But after looking a little more closely, I believe it can happen.

So... in honor of summer - pull out some colorful clothing.  Wear it proudly. Take some photos.  Blog about it.  And be ready to share next Friday!

Friday Wannabe Fashionista

I've never been accused of being a fashionista.  Especially since I've put on some weight in the last few years, I just don't feel at ease in a lot of clothes and go for comfort and what I think might hide the bulges.

But I'm still a fashionista wanna-be at heart.  I happily go about adding cute looks I like to my Pinterest boards.  But I never actually do anything with all those ideas. Well, I think it's about time I started trying out some of those looks and outfits that I've admired.  Today,  I'm picking one of the looks and shopping my closet!

Here's the original outfit I pinned...

A loose white tank, black blazer, jeans.  layered necklaces.  Casual and classic.

And here's my version ...

Loose layered white tanks, black blazers, jeans.
This was comfortable, and I felt well put together for a day of running errands.
