The Endless To Be Read List

At what point do you start thinking about what you’ll read next?

I'm usually thinking about what I'll read, after I read the book I am going to read after the book I will read after the book I am currently reading!

Confused?

Truth is - I never stop thinking about what I am going to read next.  Or after that, or after that!  My TBR (to be read) list is a mile long.  And never seems to get any shorter.

I often find myself thinking about a book I want to read and have to remind myself that I have 2 or 3 (or more!) books stacked up on the nightstand or waiting in my Kindle which need attention before I can get to the book I was thinking about.  So the TBR pile gets even bigger.

I can spend hours at the library or the book store just wandering the stacks, picking out books I want to read.  Or on the the digital library or Amazon checking out the latest offerings for my Kindle.  Money constraints usually limit my pile from the bookstore or for the Kindle from getting out of hand.  But at the library I have to cut myself off at a certain point because I know I'll never get around to reading all the books I want to take home before they have to be returned.  And the TBR list grows longer.

It's a self feeding, never ending, circle of a cycle.  But I can't complain.  I love to read.  I have since I was a little kid.  I actually can say I have a fear of suddenly having nothing to read - and I plan to make sure I never have to realize that nightmare.  By keeping the endless TBR pile fed and growing.

So, tell me - when do you start thinking about what you’ll read next?

Am I as strange as I think I am?  Or do others think that far ahead in their reading lists?

Today was Today

Some days just feel like they need a long string of curse words.  The Big Ones.  Even the queen mother of all curse words.  (you know the one I mean, I'm not gonna spell it out for you).  It may not even be that anything terrible has happened.  Or even that you're in a particularly bad mood or anything.  Some days just have that sort of a feeling to them.

Today was absolutely one of those days.  After not sleeping most of the night, I had to force myself to get out of be and go in search of a caffeine IV this morning.  Failing to find that particular delivery method, I settled for a cup of coffee.  The coffee didn't seem to help much. I still felt out of sorts and  discombobulated.  That sort of unsettled feeling lasted most of the day.

It was the sort of day to find a nice comfy hidey-hole and spend the day with a good book and a pitcher of iced tea.  (or margaritas, if you prefer)

A day to put on some music and soak in a bubble bath until the water turns cold and your toes are all pruney.

The sort of day to lose yourself in a box of chocolates.  Or a bag of cookies.

Some days just feel like "forget everything else and be nice to yourself" kind of days.  Or something like that.

Today should have been one of those days.  Unfortunately, today was today.  And the To-Do list was a mile long.

Maybe tomorrow I'll be nice to myself.

What are ways you find to be nice to yourself?

Hippity Hop

Every week Feeling Beachie gives us four statements with a blank for you to fill in on your own blogs. Want to be featured as a Co-Host to the hop?  Come up with four fill in’s of your own and email them to her at feelingbeachie@gmail.com. If she uses them, you get a nice little mention in that weeks hop! She seems pretty desperate eager for co-hosts right about now, (all this heat makes it hard to think straight, let alone be creative!) - so please help her out and email some statements!

This week’s co-host is Brenda from Fiction with a Purpose – she came up with the last two statements.

And remember: as mom always said "it's nice to share".  So be sure to tweet, facebook, etc about the Follow Friday blog hop.  And add the little linky thing there at the bottom to your own blog if you participate!

Thoughts For Today

Today, I think I'll eat whatever I want for lunch - even if that's ice cream

Today, I think I will not stress over the laundry that didn't get done.

Today, I think I'll stand in the shower until the hot water runs out.

Today, I think I'll read a good book while I sip a cup of herbal tea.

Today, I think I will just take some time to watch the wind blow.

Today, I think I will allow "good enough" to be enough.

Today, I think I'll have a glass of wine.  Or two.

Today, I think I will sing if I feel like it.  No matter who may be listening.

Today, I think I shouldn't over think today!

A Cold Day

It's a cold day.

One of those first cold days of autumn to remind me that winter isn't far behind.

The kind of day when gray clouds drift across the blue background of the sky.  The wind whistles past the windows, and sends the autumn leaves dancing through the air.

A good day to have a mug of soup for lunch.

Or curl up with a cup of hot tea and a good book.

Or maybe some coffee and something on the Netflix.

Or some warm mulled cider and a crochet project.

The type of day that leaves me looking forward to the cold evening to come.  Some warm pj's, my favorite fluffy robe, and snuggling up to The Man of the House.
