Thankful Thursday: September 6

An attitude of gratitude.  Living in a state of thankfulness.  Whatever you want to call it - it can change your outlook on life.  "We would worry less if we praised more. Thanksgiving is the enemy of discontent and dissatisfaction" ~ Harry A. Ironside

This week I am thankful for:
  • Freshman Year:  The little man is only 1 1/2 weeks into high school, and I'm already seeing an improvement in his attitude towards school and the effort he is putting into it!  I'm praying it lasts.
  • The Man of the House: He's handsome.  He's handy (remind me to tell you about the new mailbox post he made for us!).  He's caring and supportive. And he's all mine!!
  • Flexible Friends:  We were supposed to attend the Apple Festival last weekend with some friends.  The weather had different plans, pouring rain complete with thunder and lightening.  After sitting in a Walgreen's parking lot hoping it would pass over - plans were changed to a game of bowling and some ice cream after.  A good time was had by all.

A "Graeter" Ice Cream

When my dear friend over at Carano's Punk Rock Cucina recently blogged about Graeter's Ice Cream, I thought to myself:  "Sounds good.  Too bad it's not available around here"  So you can imagine my pleasure and surprise when the very next day I got an email from Earth Fare Supermarket with a coupon for a free pint of Graeter's with a $5 purchase!  It's as if the very universe was telling me I needed to try this ice cream.

After trying it, I have to say that: The universe was right!!

Being the coffee and chocolate obsessed gal that I am, I went straight for the Mocha Chocolate Chip

This ice cream is simply delicious!  Maybe it's their French Pot Process of making only 2 gallons at a time.  Maybe it's the all natural ingredients.  But whatever the reason - I consider it pure heaven in a cardboard container!

The coffee flavor was perfect.  Strong without being bitter.  The ice cream was smooth and creamy.  The chocolate.  Oh... the chocolate!  I think they must grate the chocolate "chips" themselves.  The sizes varied and I even found a large chunk buried in the middle of my pint!

I'm not ashamed to tell you that in the past two days I have eaten the entire pint all by myself... with apologies to the Man of the House and a promise to pick up more soon!

Thoughts For Today

Today, I think I'll eat whatever I want for lunch - even if that's ice cream

Today, I think I will not stress over the laundry that didn't get done.

Today, I think I'll stand in the shower until the hot water runs out.

Today, I think I'll read a good book while I sip a cup of herbal tea.

Today, I think I will just take some time to watch the wind blow.

Today, I think I will allow "good enough" to be enough.

Today, I think I'll have a glass of wine.  Or two.

Today, I think I will sing if I feel like it.  No matter who may be listening.

Today, I think I shouldn't over think today!
