When You Feel Small

When I look around at all the beautiful things God has created, it is easy to feel very very small.  There is so much which is awe-inspiring.  Breathtaking.

The rolling mountains around my home.
The deep oceans.
The vastness of space.
The seemingly endless variety of unique animals.
The complexity of plant life.

It's humbling to think that of all this - he cares for humans most of all.  That of all these things he made - He chose US to be created in his image.  That He cares for us.  He is mindful of us.  He tends to, weeps and sings over each one of us!

That he gathers us to Himself and calls each and everyone of us "beloved".

Out of all the things great and small in this endless universe - God notices us and cherishes us above all others.  Ours are the names engraved on his hands.

Learning To Tell Myself No

I have been working my way through the Made to Crave Bible Study through Proverbs 31 Ministries.  I was getting it.. but not "getting it".  I mean... my head was in it. It was logically making sense, the things I was reading. But something still wasn't connecting.

Then I read this one line...

"It's really is about learning to tell myself no and learning to make wiser choices daily" (Made to Crave, Lysa TerKeurst)

Whoa!!!

Sisters, let me tell you -  I was hit by the proverbial lightening bolt at that.  If I was a cartoon me, there would have been a big ol' light bulb sparking up over my head!

Sometimes I'm a little slow to catch on to things. But, finally... I felt like I got it. That realization of how this applies to not just my food and health, but to my life.

It's not JUST about food!

It's about making wise choices every day.  It's about learning to deny myself.  Not to give in to earthly, sinful impulses.  To humble myself.  To practice self control.  To rely on God's wisdom.

That goes for what I am choosing to put in my mouth.  It goes for whether or not I choose to exercise.

But saying no to unhealthy food and unhealthy practices is the beginning.  Practice.  The launching pad.

Because it also applies to so much more!

Feeling Honored

I t has been a week of honors for my little blog!  I am humbled and honored to have my blog be recognized by other bloggers.  And so very grateful that God has given me a blog to write about the journey of my life and to share what He shows me about His grace and power every day with others. To Him be the glory!

First, Tales of Beauty for Ashes featured my post Made Perfect In Weakness  for this week's Into The Word Wednesday

Second, Caffeinated Country Diva Diaries bestowed upon me the greatly sought after and coveted Liebster Award.

It seems there are a whole set of rules to the Liebster award.  I hope she will forgive me if I humbly accept the award while skipping the rest of the steps.
