Ten Questions

I want to thank Michelle at New Horizon Reviews for tagging my blog for the Liebster Award!

I typically don't do many 'tag - you're it' type posts on here.  But...
1) I liked her questions and wanted to answer them. (except for one... you'll see...)
And
2) I always seem to need some good writing prompts these days!

So... here we go!

(1) What made you start a blog?
      um... good question!  I've always liked to write and I think I just saw it as a place to express myself. An online journal of sorts. It has just sort of grown and developed over the years.
(2) What is one tip you would offer a new blogger?
      Don't be afraid to hit the publish button no matter what you wrote. Your blog doesn't have to be just like anyone else.  It's yours.  Your thoughts, your platform, your writing.  Be yourself.  

 
(3) Where does your blogging inspiration come from?
      God... my family... life... every moment
(4) What do you like best about blogging?
      Having an outlet for some of the thoughts that roll around in my head all day.  #2 favorite thing is comments from readers.  I loooove comments!!
(5) Are you a morning person? Why/Why not?
      No!  I would be an early to bed, late to rise kinda gal if I could.  But I do make myself get up before the sun on most mornings so I can have some quiet time before the busyness of the day gets in the way.
(6) Who has the biggest influence on you? Why?
      Other than God?  That would have to be the Man of the House.  He is always there for me. He is kind, giving, and compassionate.  He's strong.  He has an amazing work ethic.  I admire him and wish I could be more like him sometimes. He supports all my crazy dreams and encourages me to go for them.  He comforts me when I feel like I'm falling flat on my face.  And he makes me feel beautiful. 
(7) What is your favorite book?
      Nope.  Just no.  I can't do it.  This is one of my very least favorite questions in the history of questions.  Ever.   I love books.  So many books.  I can't possible pick just one as my favorite.  That would be like picking a favorite offspring.

(8) What is the first book you remember reading?
      "The Three Little Pigs"  Which happens to be the first book I ever read by myself.  I was in kindergarten - which at that time was optional, so they didn't start teaching reading until first grade.  But I kept begging and begging my teacher to let me read, so she hooked me up.  I still remember how proud I was of myself for reading "straw"  because that is a very hard word when you are just starting out!

(9) How do you feel about print books versus e-books?
      I like the convenience of e-books.  Being able to carry as many as I want with me in one lightweight device.  Lovely!  But nothing will ever replace print books for me.  Holding the book, feeling the spine give for the first time, turning the pages.  The BEST!
(10) What is your favorite piece of furniture? Why? 
     My bed.  Because that's where I sleep.  And read.

Feeling Honored

I t has been a week of honors for my little blog!  I am humbled and honored to have my blog be recognized by other bloggers.  And so very grateful that God has given me a blog to write about the journey of my life and to share what He shows me about His grace and power every day with others. To Him be the glory!

First, Tales of Beauty for Ashes featured my post Made Perfect In Weakness  for this week's Into The Word Wednesday. 

Second, Caffeinated Country Diva Diaries bestowed upon me the greatly sought after and coveted Liebster Award. 

It seems there are a whole set of rules to the Liebster award.  I hope she will forgive me if I humbly accept the award while skipping the rest of the steps.

Which is a pretty cool thing.   It's always nice to get a nod from a fellow blogger!

The Liebster Blog award is for the blogs that have less than 200 followers.  It recognizes the smaller writers, the lovers of reading,   the bloggers sharing little pieces of our lives.

As always happens with these awards, there are questions to be answered and you are required to share facts about yourself.  And you must pass it on to others.  So... 

Janice's Questions for Me:

1. What is the 1st book you fell in love reading? How old were you?  Hmm... Island of the Blue Dolphins.  Read it over and over.  I was... I don't know.. 11 maybe?

2. Describe yourself in 3 words?  Christian, wife, mother


3. Last good deed you did? For whom?  Bought coffee for a friend who was standing in line behind me at the counter.


4. Favorite male character (movies)? Female?  Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara - without a doubt!


5. Worst book ever read? Did you buy it or was it a gift?  I can't think of a really bad one, so I must have blocked it out.  I do remember that the ending of My Sister's Keeper made me so angry that it ruined the entire book for me.


6. When do you usually read? Morning,afternoon, evening, middle of the night?  At night before I fall asleep


7.Book store, delivered to your mailbox, or library?  All of the above!  Plus online for the nook!


8. Paperback or kindle?  Neither!  Nook!


9. Meaning behind your blog name?  I hate all the "Real Housewives of..." shows. THAT is not reality and those are NOT real housewives. 


10. Do you trade books for others or do you hoard them on shelves?  Depends on the book.  Usually I hoard them until I get too many and then I pass some one and donate some to the Library or Goodwill.


11. What is the 1st thing that comes to mind when I say the word "POPSICLE"?  Cherry Popsicle melting onto your hands. 

Eleven Things About Me:

1. I am spending too much time right now wondering "why eleven?  why not ten?  or a dozen?  who came up with eleven?"
2. I love coffee.  And Dr Pepper.  Not together!
3. I do not like onions.  Not even cooked.
4. I hate my thighs.  Ugh...
5. I wish I had pretty long fingernails.
6. I do not like having to make lists of things about myself
7. I should be getting ready to go to a cookout instead of blogging right now
8. I like the smell of Murphy's Oil Soap.
9. When I was a kid I wanted dark hair and green eyes instead of my blond hair and blue eyes
10. Everyone says my daughter looks like me.  I think she looks more like her dad.
11. I am very happy to be done with this list!

The passing on of the award is going to have to wait.  I have to consider who I am giving it to.  And think up my questions for those lucky folks.
