The 14 Day Marriage Challenge: Day Eight

Welcome to Day 8 of the 14 Day Marriage Challenge!

Today's challenge: The way to a man's heart is through his stomach.

We've all heard that old saying, right?  Well.. Whether it's an entre, a dessert, or a candy - let's serve him what he likes today!

If you have time to make it for him - great!  If not, that's OK!  There's nothing wrong with stopping by the store or bakery, or picking up take-out from his favorite restaurant.

The Man of the House is crazy for pizza. Guess what we had for dinner? :0)

What is your hubby's favorite food?

Treasures in Darkness

"I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name." ~ Isaiah 45:3

In the struggles, the difficulty, the hard times, the trials, the pain, the loneliness, the moments of self doubt and self deprecation - even there.  The places we might never think to look for it. The secret places.

Even in the darkest places God has treasure for us.

Buried somewhere in that darkness are nuggets of truth and wisdom. Lessons to be learned.  Leading us to where he stands calling our name and waiting to shower us with the riches of His love and peace.

This gives us a choice.  In our darkest moments.  We can lose ourselves to the darkness... or we can listen for His voice calling our name and seek the treasures.

The 14 Day Marriage Challenge: Day Six

Welcome to Day 6 of the 14 Day Marriage Challenge!

The Challenge for today: Send him a text or email during the day to let him know you're thinking about him.

This can be sweet, romantic, flirty, or sexy - what every you are comfortable with.  Send more than one if you want!

Here are a few suggestions to get you started:

  • Thank you for being you.
  • Thinking about you...
  • You're my best friend
  • Glad I have you in my life
  • I miss you.
  • Love you to the moon and back
  • You are the best!
  • More in love with you than ever!
  • Hey sexy... got plans tonight?
  • I am one lucky gal!
  • You.  Me.  2nite.
Or use your own original idea! Leave a comment and let us know what your text/email said.

Learning To Tell Myself No

I have been working my way through the Made to Crave Bible Study through Proverbs 31 Ministries.  I was getting it.. but not "getting it".  I mean... my head was in it. It was logically making sense, the things I was reading. But something still wasn't connecting.

Then I read this one line...

"It's really is about learning to tell myself no and learning to make wiser choices daily" (Made to Crave, Lysa TerKeurst)

Whoa!!!

Sisters, let me tell you -  I was hit by the proverbial lightening bolt at that.  If I was a cartoon me, there would have been a big ol' light bulb sparking up over my head!

Sometimes I'm a little slow to catch on to things. But, finally... I felt like I got it. That realization of how this applies to not just my food and health, but to my life.

It's not JUST about food!

It's about making wise choices every day.  It's about learning to deny myself.  Not to give in to earthly, sinful impulses.  To humble myself.  To practice self control.  To rely on God's wisdom.

That goes for what I am choosing to put in my mouth.  It goes for whether or not I choose to exercise.

But saying no to unhealthy food and unhealthy practices is the beginning.  Practice.  The launching pad.

Because it also applies to so much more!

The 14 Day Marriage Challenge: Day Five

Welcome To Day 5 of the 14 Day Marriage Challenge!

Today's Challenge: Let him know you missed him!

When he walks in the door from work greet him with a big kiss.  (or, if he gets home before you - give him a huge kiss as soon as you walk in the door)

I'll be honest: usually when the Man of the House gets home he is greeted by the dog and/or the grand baby.  While I am either sitting on the couch watching the news, or in the kitchen fixing dinner.  I can certainly take a moment from what I am doing to walk over and let him know I am happy to see him! And I know he appreciates it.

Leave a comment and let us know how your hubby responded to your "Welcome Home" greeting.

Put A Little Love In Your Home

I found some adorable little Valentine garlands in the dollar spot at Target the other day.  And you know me... I love a bargain! I also love a cute seasonal decor item.  So, I had to get one of each design!

One to show the kitchen window a little love

And one to top off my Valentine's mantel!

The 14 Day Marriage Challenge: Day Four

Welcome to Day 4 of the 14 Day Marriage Challenge!

The challenge for this day: 3 Times A Charm!

The 14 Day Marriage Challenge: Day Three

Welcome to Day 3 of the 14 Day Marriage Challenge

Your challenge for today: Be thankful!

Thank him for all the little things.  If he takes the trash out, washes the dishes, plays with the kids or helps them with homework, pays you a compliment, works hard all day to support your family. Find at least one little thing he does on a day to day basis (more than one: Bonus!) and  Thank him for it!

Don't forget to check back and let us know what you thanked him for - and his reaction.

edited to add:  I thanked the Man of the House for straightening up the house between church and SuperBowl on Sunday. He returned the favor by thanking me for making chicken wings for the big game.  :0)

The 14 Day Marriage Challenge: Day Two

Welcome to Day 2 of the 14 Day Marriage Challenge!
Today challenge: let's give those men our undivided attention!

Whenever he speaks to you today - STOP whatever you are doing, turn, and look at him.  Really listen to what he's saying - not thinking of your response, or what you're going to do as soon as he's done talking.  Just... listen to him.

Yes. This one can be a little tough.  It requires some awareness and effort. But isn't he worth it?

Be sure to leave a comment and let us know what you did to complete this assignment!

The 14 Day Marriage Challenge: Day One

Welcome to Day One of the 14 Day Marriage Challenge!

Today your assignment is to show your hubby a little attention and affection with a relaxing touch!

You could rub his shoulders... or scratch his back... or massage his feet or hands.

He works hard. Take a few minutes to pamper him a little and show him how much you appreciate him!

You may find the perfect time to do this is while watching TV in the evening, or as you're settling into bed getting ready for sleep.

The Man of the House likes to have his scalp massaged.  That's what I did for him!

Leave a comment and let us know what you did to complete the first assignment.
