Stuff For All The Stuff

They've been showing up in my email daily for the past week or two.  Emails letting me know that storage items are on sale.  Telling me about all the items being offered which will help me get my clutter under control.  Baskets and decorative boxes are half off!

They're so tempting with their siren's song of getting my life organized and getting all my things under control once and for all.

Hold on just a sec.  Wait a minute...

Are they all telling me that I need to buy more STUFF in order to contain all the STUFF I already own?

Why - yes!  I think that's exactly what they are trying to convince me.  That because of all the things I have cluttering up my life and home - I need to buy MORE things!

Um...  Does this seem wrong to anyone else?

My life is not going to become simplified by purchasing more things to put in my home in order to hold all the stuff that's already there.  The only solution to all the clutter in my life is to start eliminating it.  Not by adding to it!

Instead of adding to the clutter by getting a bunch of new items that are supposed to contain it, this week I am getting rid of some of the things cluttering up my home.

What is one area or room where you can get rid of some of the "stuff" cluttering up your home.

July Intention and Goals

June went pretty well when it came to goals.  There's room for improvement, but with the exception of tackling that pesky yarn stash I can feel good about the progress I made.

My intention for July is Better Health.  The Man of the House and I have plans to get back into a healthier eating routine, starting with a good old fashioned detox.  Eliminating most (all?) processed foods, no added sugars, no gluten, little to no dairy.  We've also been trying to get out for a good walk a few evenings a week.  I've been better about drinking more water recently, but I could do better.

My goals for July are:

Read 3 Books:  I'm a little behind on my personal reading goal for the year.  Time to kick it into gear!  I also have about 3 holds at the library which are all about to become available at the same time.  So... yeh.

Organize Yarn Stash:  Because I am going to get that mess under control before this summer is over!

Make New Throw Pillows for Living Room:  This has been on my To Do list for what seems like forever.  I'm tired of it haunting me.  I need to stop procrastinating and take care of it once and for all.

Walk 2 to 3 Times Per Week:  See above re: monthly intention!

What are your goals for the month of July?

Less Time To Do It

I enjoy a good long weekend just as much as anyone else.  But what is it about "short weeks" that always makes me feel a little rushed and stressed? Too much to do, and a day shorter to do it all.

To Do: September 3 - 7
  • make homemade dishwasher detergent
  • work on Queen B's Busy Work items
  • clean up bedroom - complete with some purging
  • keep mammogram appointment
  • do something (anything) to start organizing craft area
  • library
  • make a decision on at least one Christmas present to make
  • write, Write, WRITE!!

September Goals

September?  Is that right?  September?  I keep thinking it must be wrong, because I JUST typed out the list of goals for August - like yesterday or the day before, right?  Right? No?  I was afraid of that.

Oh well.  A new month = new goals.  And here they are.

September Goals:
  • Finish "About" page for Queen B's Busy Work
  • Continue making new items for Queen B's Busy Work
  • Do SOMETHING to start organizing crafting area!
  • Schedule a September date night with The Man of the House
  • Make more time for reading
  • Write everyday - either blogging or writing journal (or both!)
  • Start making at least 2 Christmas presents
  • Take some relaxing time for me each week (give myself a pedi, take a bubble bath, etc)
