That Dream You Have. The One That Scares You

That dream you have - the one that scares you.  The one that seems impossible.  Too big.  Too crazy.  Too far out of reach.  That one.

That's exactly the one you should pursue.

Because that's probably the important one.  The one God is speaking to you.  Calling you

Maybe that's why it seems so large.  Because it's a God sized dream.

That fear?  Maybe that's a sign you're on the right path.  Fear is the enemy.  Trying to make us doubt ourselves.  To discourage us.  To keep us from following God's plan for us.

It seems impossible.  But with God all things are possible.

Push past the fear.  Trust the One who first imagined the dream and passed it to you.  The One who can make it happen.  Step out in faith and obedience.  Pursue the dream.

Seven Days Without Coffee: Coffee Dreaming

Day Four had me missing coffee. Thinking of coffee. Dreaming of coffee.  Longing for coffee.  Day Four was a tough one.  But I made it.  The half way mark had been accomplished!

I have to confess something.  I went and took advantage of World Market's 3 hour Buy One, Get One sale on coffee.  Like the squirrels stashing away the acorns for winter, I was stocking up for the day when I will once again return to the dark pleasure of coffee.

Lost In A Dream

When I first woke up this morning, a phrase was in my head.  Like a message from a dream.  In those first moments it was clear, and in that hazy half awake stage it had great meaning.  I tried to hold onto it.  But like all dreams, the more awake I became - the more distant it seemed.  Until it was gone.

I can still feel it there.  Just on the fringes of my waking mind.   But I can't seem to recapture it.  Like chasing a shadow.

My Head In the (Funnel) Clouds

For the second night in a row I have dreamed of tornadoes.

The first night I was in some sort of office setting, and looked out the window to see 3 tornadoes heading toward the building where I was.  Which set me running to find a safe place at the center of the building to shelter.  As I sat on the floor in my dream with my hands over my head, I could see things flying around outside the building.  Swirling around us.  But I don't recall anyone being hurt or the building I was in being damaged by the storm

Last night, I was in some sort of wilderness town setting.  With a large "general store" type structure in the center.  As the storm started and the winds rose, everyone rushed into the cellar of this store to hide.  And I recall telling someone in this dream how it was strange to actually be in a tornado because I had just dreamed of tornadoes the night before - and proceeded to tell them about the first dream!

For someone recently commenting on this very blog about how she doesn't seem to remember much of her dreams anymore - the fact that I have dreamed of tornadoes two nights in a row AND remembered so much of the details seems somehow significant.

Dream A Little Dream

I don't remember my dreams much anymore.  I used to when I was younger.  I used to dream and wake with a vivid recall of my nocturnal imaginings.  Occasionally I would even have the dream where I realized I was dreaming.  Not anymore.

It's not that I don't dream.  I know I do, because sometimes I wake with a vague feeling left over from the dream.  Or a few fleeting images.  Or I'll catch that feeling of deja vu sometime later.  But I don't remember the dreams themselves.

Back and Forth

Today is the day I take a few moments to reflect...

To look back at what has past, and to look ahead at what may come.

Where I have been, and where I still want to go.

What I have accomplished, and what I still want do.

How I have lived my life, and how I want to live it from this point forward.

The people and experiences I treasure and hold close.

A day to smile.

To dream.

To enjoy.
