But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.
~ 1 Corinthians 1: 27-29
The foolish, the weak, the lowly, the despised.
When you look at the list of people God has used - a liar, a drunk, a stuttering murderer, a divorcee, an adulterer, a prostitute, an orphan, a fisherman, a guy who ate bugs, and one who persecuted His followers - you realize these weren't what would be considered "great people" by the world's standards.
Not wise by humand standards. Uneducated. Not influential or of noble birth.
Foolish. Weak. Despised.
These are the ones the Lord calls. These are the ones he uses.
So that His wisdom, His influence, His strength can shine through. To demonstrate His power.
Ordinary people. Used by God to accomplish great things.
