My Monkeys... Our Circus

Last week, we took the grand baby to his first circus.

It was the Garden Brothers Circus -  a small one ring circus showing at the local arena.  Which was perfect for a first time circus experience.

Before the show there was a "kid's zone".  You could buy tickets for things like pony or elephant rides, face painting, and a bouncy house.  This is where we learned the hard way that if you let our grandson play in a bounce house - you had better be prepared to go in after him when it's time to go.  Yikes!!

He very much enjoyed the clown acts.

And the acrobats.

But most of all, he enjoyed the circus food.

Popcorn and cotton  candy, of course!!  Definitely my grand kid!

It Was Nice - While It Lasted

Yesterday morning, after his mommy left for school, the grand baby was all about some cuddle time with his Oma.  Which I was more than happy to oblige.  It isn't an opportunity I get as often as I would like.

He's such an active little fellow, it can be difficult to get him to slow down during the day for some snuggles.  And in the evenings when he's ready to wind down and curl up on a lap - he usually goes looking for his Cpa.

So, of course, I jump at any chance to get some of that sweet little boy's undivided affection.  We spent that quality time curled up on the couch, him watching some cartoons, while I did some work on my tablet and rubbed his back.  It was a wonderful way to spend a cold winter morning.

Then, my not-so little boy decided to drag himself out of bed.  And once the grand baby realized his uncle was home - cuddle time was over.  It was more like: "Oma, who?"

Two Years

My sweet, adorable, crazy, hilarious little grand son is TWO years old today!

Seems like just the other day I was writing about how I was completely Head Over Heels with this sweet new life.

Now here we are.. two whole years later.

He's into everything (and I mean e-ve-ry-thing!!)

He runs full speed from the moment he gets up in the morning until he falls asleep at night.

He talks up a storm (gets that from his mommy!)

He has the most precious little curls

He makes me laugh every single day.

He has his grandpa completely wrapped around his finger.

I love him bunches and bunches (in case you couldn't guess that)

Happy Birthday Little One!!

The Grand Baby Guest Post

Hi!  Because today is my C-pa's birthday, my Oma is letting me tell you a little bit about him.

C-pa is the name for my grandpa.  I don't know why, that's just what he's called.  But it's the coolest name ever.  I even have a little hand motion I do when I say it!  C-pa is the only one in the whole family who gets a sign along with his name.

He plays with me lots and lots!  He even sits in the floor when I tell him, and lets me jump off the ottoman.  It's OK, because I know he'll catch me so I don't get hurt.

He teaches me about football.  He likes to watch it a lot.  He says the best team is the Cleveland Browns (which confuses me, because their helmets are orange - not brown.  Maybe they should be the Cleveland Oranges.  I like oranges)

C-pa gives me all kinds of treats.  Whenever he's eating something yummy, all I have to do is climb up in his lap and he'll share with me!

He's very, very tall.  He is so tall, when he lifts me up I can touch the ceiling.  I like to do it over and over and over again!

He makes me laugh.  He is so funny.

And he is the best peek a boo player I know!

My C-pa is a great guy.  We have a lot of fun together.

I hope he has a happy birthday today!

What Do You Do?

I saw this writing prompt on another blog recently and couldn't stop thinking about it:

"If you couldn't answer with your job, how would you answer the question, 'what do you do'?"

Maybe this was easier for me since I stopped answering this question with a description of my work away from home job about a year ago.  But it still made me think: what do I do?

I...

... love my husband
... take care of my family
... like to read
... crochet
... write a blog
... love to hang clothes out on the line
... enjoy saving money and am always on the lookout for bargains
... babysit my grandson
... watch documentaries on Netflix
... make my own cleaning products
...  google everything
... do crafts for my home and to give as gifts

What do you do?

Thankful Thursday: September 27

Thursday is the day when I pause to take a few minutes and just soak in all the blessings which have been poured over me during the past week.

This week I am thankful for:

The Man of the House: For bringing me Nyquil, lotion tissues, and ginger ale when I was sick with a head cold earlier this week.

My "Baby" Sister:  Who sent me a gift card to my favorite bookstore because she was thinking about me wanted to make me smile! (which actually made me cry a little - in a good way)

The Grand baby:  Because no matter how grumpy I am or worn out I feel, he makes me smile and laugh every single day

What are you thankful for?  Please share in the comments section.  OR - even better: write your own "Thankful Thursday" post and share the link in the comments.  And I would also be very thankful if you also included a mention and a link back to this blog somewhere in your post.

My Eyes Are Right Here

The Grand baby's new favorite game seems to be trying to pretend the person holding him just doesn't exist.

The rules of this game seem simple.  He is completely intent on looking at absolutely anything else in the room, except you - the person holding him.  And he's very good at it.  Especially when the person holding him (that would be me) has her own face about 6 inches from his and is saying "Hey.. I'm right here.  Helloooo... right here pal.  Right.  Here."

Oh sure. Every so often, his eyes will finally stray over and meet yours. He'll give you that huge melt-my-heart grin, laugh, and immediately look away to something - anything - else.

Now.. I will admit there is a very slim chance that the combination tuna sandwich and cheesecake breath he may have been experiencing thanks to my lunch could have caused him to keep looking away in an attempt to keep his eyes from watering.  But maybe not.

When he finally grew tired of the game and was making eye contact with me, and talking to me; I told him that I didn't find that game very funny.  In fact, it's a little rude.

His response?  He grinned and actually chuckled... and then looked away from me to check out the ceiling fan.
