Picture October: Day 30

I found this in my salad mix.  Pretty sure it's clover?  When they say "organic" - they mean it!  HA!

Rejoice Always

Chalkboard Art Print Available at: Breezy Tulip Studio

I think too often :

We rejoice... in the good
Pray... in the bad
And give thanks... sometimes

I know I have been guilty of this.

I will strive to:

Rejoice.. always!
Pray... without ceasing!
Give thanks... in everything!

Chunky Blue Cowl

Chunky Blue Cowl Scarf

The colors of this yarn brought to mind a clear, cold, winter sky. That's how I knew it had to be crafted into a big warm chunky cowl!

Approximately 11 inches wide.

Handcrafted without following a formal pattern. One of a kind!

Picture October: Day 29

Yep... I have missed the past 5 days in the whole "Picture October" plan.  Oops.  Sometimes life gets in the way. So, perhaps we could just pretend like that never happened. Pretend that there were awesome, smile inspiring pictures posted for those days.  And let's move on.  Shall we?  Great!

Neither Height nor Depth

What encouraging, uplifting, wondrous news!

God is always there.

He loves us no matter what happens!

Whatever I do - He still loves me!

Even
...When I'm grumpy.
...When I'm tired.
...When I'm hormonal.
...When I put on a few pounds.
...Whether the house is clean or not.
...Whether or not the laundry is finished.
...When I have a bad hair day.
...When I have a no good, horrible, very bad day.

He still loves me.

And nothing can separate us from that love!

Ain't Nobody Got Time For That

You know me... I'm a list maker.  I have a running To-Do list.  Things I need to take care of.  Some of them are things that absolutely have to get done TODAY.  Some need to get done sometime this week.  And some are just little things that can get done whenever I get around to it.

We all make our priorities everyday.  We label our duties, and our problems - are they BIG things... or small things.

We may even find ourselves doing this in our spiritual life.  Praying and asking God for His help with the things we think of as BIG.  But trying to handle the things we see as small on our own.

But guess what...

There are no big problems or small problems to God!

There is nothing so big that God can't carry it for us.  Nothing so huge we can't bring it and lay it at the foot of the cross.

Just as there is nothing so small that it will go unnoticed.  Got never says "I don't have time to deal with your little thing right now because I'm working on bigger priorities".

Yes, He might make us wait for a resolution because the time isn't right.  Or because we have a lesson to learn from what we are dealing with.  Or maybe because of where the trial is taking us.

But God doesn't ever not have time for us.  He always sees what we are struggling with.  He doesn't see it as insignificant.

He always cares. And if we take it to Him - He will help us get to the other side.

Why I Still Keep A Paper Calendar

Yes.  I still keep a paper calendar.

In fact... I keep two of them.  One hangs in the kitchen, one stays in my purse.

You may ask "Why?" Why would anyone still keep a paper calendar in this digital age when you can keep everything handy on your phone or computer.

I have a good answer to that.  Because I know exactly where at least one of those paper calendars is at all times.

Don't get me wrong.  I like having all our calendar events handy on the computer or phone.  I'm a huge fan of Cozi.  (if you're not familiar - you have GOT to check it out!)

But, in the past two years I have had my phone stolen once and crash three times.  Which meant losing everything there.  Everything!

Do you have any idea how frustrating it is for a list maker, note taker kind of gal like me to lose all my contacts and calendar events?   It's enough to make me crazy.  As if I wasn't crazy enough already!

So, yes... I keep a paper calendar.  And I have no intention of going completely paperless anytime soon!

No Backsies

Did you catch that?

Not - "do to other as they do to you"

But - "as you would have them do".

We shouldn't repay hate with hate.  Wrong doing with wrong doing.

We can't justify our bad behaviour, or our mistreatment of others, based on how they treat us - or how they act in general.

Instead we should always treat others the way we would want to be treated.

It's not a matter of repaying what has been done.  It's about setting an example to those around us.

Three O'Clock in the Morning

I can't figure out what is going on with me and 3am!

First - I woke up at 3am sure someone was moving around and making noise in the male offspring's room.  Wondering what in the world he was doing at that time of night, I got up and went to check on him.  Both he and the dog were sound asleep.  Um... OK. Back to bed, where it took me forever to fall back asleep.

Then -  I woke up around 3am convinced I was smelling toast.  So sure, I got up to see who was making toast at that time of night.  The kitchen was empty.  The toaster oven was off.  And cool.  No one had been toasting bread of any sort.  Um... OK.  Back to bed, where I lay awake slowly taking inventory for any symptoms of a stroke.

Last night, I woke up about 3am absolutely sure that either a) the alarm hadn't gone off and we were oversleeping.  Or b) the alarm was about to go off any moment.  Of course, neither was correct.  Unfortunately, it messed up my sleep for the rest of the night because I kept waking up anticipating the alarm.

The hypochondriac in me is convinced that something is misfiring somewhere in my brain at three in the mornings.  The normal (?) part of me just wants to sleep through a night without having to get up at 3am for some reason.

The Grand Baby Guest Post

Hi!  Because today is my C-pa's birthday, my Oma is letting me tell you a little bit about him.

C-pa is the name for my grandpa.  I don't know why, that's just what he's called.  But it's the coolest name ever.  I even have a little hand motion I do when I say it!  C-pa is the only one in the whole family who gets a sign along with his name.

He plays with me lots and lots!  He even sits in the floor when I tell him, and lets me jump off the ottoman.  It's OK, because I know he'll catch me so I don't get hurt.

He teaches me about football.  He likes to watch it a lot.  He says the best team is the Cleveland Browns (which confuses me, because their helmets are orange - not brown.  Maybe they should be the Cleveland Oranges.  I like oranges)

C-pa gives me all kinds of treats.  Whenever he's eating something yummy, all I have to do is climb up in his lap and he'll share with me!

He's very, very tall.  He is so tall, when he lifts me up I can touch the ceiling.  I like to do it over and over and over again!

He makes me laugh.  He is so funny.

And he is the best peek a boo player I know!

My C-pa is a great guy.  We have a lot of fun together.

I hope he has a happy birthday today!

Wooly Worm Weather

The weather is so wacky right now.  After a cooler than normal, very very wet summer - we have entered into a warmer than usual fall.   It seems even the wooly worms are confused!

Wait...

Let me back up a bit.

For those of y'all not from around here - wooly worms (aka: wooly bear caterpillars) are fuzzy little caterpillar creatures.  They are typically banded with black and brown stripes, which some folks in these parts believe can predict the weather for the coming winter.  Why, just north of here - there's even an entire festival dedicated to these furry little cuties!

Problem is... we are spotting wooly worms with all varieties of color!  I've seen banded ones which were mostly black, banded ones that are mostly brown, and solid brown ones.  The Man of the House even says he saw a "blond" one!

Have you spotted any wooly worms around?  What did yours look like?

These flowers are growing randomly and wild at the end of our road.  I kept commenting how pretty they are, and the female offspring stopped on her way home to pick a couple for me!
