'Radical obedience to God takes place in the everyday mundane things'
What are we missing everyday because we're too busy looking for the big, life changing, earth shaking, history making things?
Colossians 3:23 tells us, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters" (NIV)
Everything matters.
God will use what ever He calls us to do for His glory.
Whether its being a missionary, a minister, or a mother.
Whether He calls us to feed orphans, work in the corporate world, or fold laundry.
On some level in His plan it's all life changing, earth shaking, history making, BIG stuff.
God uses all of us in different ways. He calls ALL of us. Are we listening? Are we obeying?
"I called you so often, but you wouldn't come. I reached out to you, but you paid no attention. You ignored my advice and rejected the correction I offered". ~ Proverbs 1:24 (NLT)
I don't want to be the one who misses it when He tells me to do something.
I want to be the woman who pays attention.
The one who takes the direction and correction.
The woman who says "Yes God - whatever you want".
Oh that reminded me of a statement I read once about Moses and the mountain and the burning bush. The statement was "God often speaks to us in the midst of common toil" It went with Ex 3:1: "Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock....." Moses was just doing his normal everyday job and God spoke to him.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder.
"God often speaks to us in the midst of common toil"
DeleteOh how I love that statement! Thank you so much for sharing it!
Thank you for tihs post! God has had me read a few other posts this morning that are along the lines of the same topic. I think He's trying to tell me something ;) God bless!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love it when you keep getting the same message and realize God is trying to talk to you? I know I do! We just have to be sure we're listening!
DeleteGreat Blog! Thank you for sharing...It really touched my heart :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading and commenting! I'm glad you were able to take something away from my little post.
DeleteAmen, Beckey! It takes a lot of daily mundane things to keep everything moving forward. We need to feel valued in whatever we are doing and do it to the best of our abilities given by our heavenly Father!

Thanx Paige! We may have some big things happen along the way - but most of life is made up of the "little" daily things. We have to see God in the little things and let Him use them for His glory.
DeleteI love this! Especially your comments about God using us all in different ways. A sister-in-Christ and I are having major conflicts due to the fact that we're just completely and totally different - really sisters!!! ;) Finally, we just realized that the Lord is calling us to different ministries and we need to just give each other freedom to follow His voice. Regardless of whether or not we always agree with each other's choices. Thanks for this great post!
ReplyDeleteThank you Christa. God made each of us different so He can us all of us for a different purpose. You each have the same goal - to glorify the Lord. Rejoice in that! :0)
DeleteThanks for the reminder that the small things do matter!
ReplyDeleteLife is made up of the small things. Let's not miss out while waiting on the big things!
DeleteAmen Beckey!! Thanks for a great blog post!!

DeleteGreat post on just how easily we could miss out!! I love the different perspectives the blog hops give! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing to see how God can take one book/one Bible study/one message and talk to all of us in different ways right where we are! Thanks for reading!
DeleteHa! I am always looking for God in the grand things. :) But after the video yesterday and then praying my way through laundry and dishes (I was quite excited about it too!,) I said Lord, I can't even wait to hear all the glories about how You moved on behalf of even my little prayers over my family members. Thanks for the confirmation message!:)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear about them either! :0)
DeleteBeckey,
ReplyDeleteI think often of the scripture that says, "He who is faithful in little, I will make him ruler over much." We're always eager to jump to the big stuff, not realizing that the path to the city of Gold is made of little pebbles. May we be found faithful!
oooh! That fits perfectly here, doesn't it? Thank you for sharing!
